A Lifetime of Making Art

I have been making art since I was a child. I shoot photography as though I'm painting or drawing — where composition and the decisive moment unify into a compelling work. Now I've returned to painting and drawing, and I continue to photograph.

For forty years, the streets, studios, and stages of New York and beyond have been my canvas. Whether I'm working with a 4×5 large-format camera on a city sidewalk, capturing the arc of a dancer mid-leap, or standing before an easel with a brush in hand — the pursuit is always the same: to find the truth inside a single moment and hold it still.

Photography taught me to see. Painting taught me to feel. Together, they have shaped a body of work that moves between the documentary and the expressive — between what is and what could be.

"Composition and the decisive moment — when they unify, the photograph becomes something more than a record. It becomes a work of art."
